AI - Scared or Excited?
There is a lot of chatter about ChatGPT and AI in the media at the moment. AI isn't 'new' but does seem to have suddenly popped into more popular consciousness with the public launch of ChatGPT and the search-wars of Google and Microsoft.
You might be excited; you might be scared. Or you might have a foot in both camps - I know I definitely do!
But I don't think we can ignore it.
Gartner predicts that by 2025, 30% of outbound marketing content will be produced using AI. That doesn't mean all 30% of this content is created and pushed out automatically, AI still currently needs human oversight to ensure it is 'right' and appropriate for your business, but it can be a good starting point and save time for a marketer.
A Europol report (the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation) predicts that by 2026, 90% of all content online will be AI-generated. How will we know what is real and what is 'artificial'? Who will we trust? Is it so black & white that content produced by humans should be trusted and those produced by AI is 'fake', or are there shades of grey?
I don't know the answers - and nor do the 'experts' - but what I do encourage you to do is be aware of what is changing in this space and be proactive.
Start using and experimenting with AI. It is here today & can be useful. Even if you just spend some time 'playing' I think it is worth it as a learning exercise.
Start talking with your team about how it could support your existing systems and processes, making you more effective.
Can it help marketing content generation, customer engagement or writing code?
What can it do today? What might it do in the short- to mid-term?
What ethical considerations do you need to think about when using or creating AI? e.g whether you are open about your use of AI or not, data privacy and bias.
I’d love to hear (and see) some of your successes and learnings.
BTW - in case you are wondering about the image, it is the first suggestion that DALLE provided when I asked for 'chatgpt'?!!?? Go figure!
